Does anyone know where I can find the rubber bumper fillers on a 1975 280z

not easy to find. Not available from Nissan or from the higher profile parts suppliers (MSA; Black Dragon). I haven't done any recent searches but I had no luck when I was considering rebuilding the OEM bumpers on my 75 280Z. I finally just took the bumpers off. Find a parts car nearby if you can, but its bumpers may be no better. I've rarely seen the rubber parts in good condition given the amount of time & abuse they are subjected to. Good luck

I've seen these recently on ebay being sold by reddat. He seems to be able to find about anything. You are talking about the circular rubber plugs that cover the bolt heads, correct? We 75 owners are pretty limited when it comes to bumper options. Good luck.

I think he might be talking about the large rubber piece that fills in between the bumper ends and the body. They are all saggy, cracked and chipped up after years of sun, heat and abuse. I've been pondering mine recently also.

I haven't seen a reproduction piece anywhere either. I'll probably take them off and see if some later model trim from another car can be customized to look good, but with the plastic bumper fascias everywhere it will probably be difficult.

One option might be to remove them, then push the 5 mph bumper shocks in to tighten up the gap. You could probably retrofit on the 77 or 78 pieces also, but then you'd have the accordion piece look on the wrong year car. It's a dilemma.

Oh, you want the large pieces. I have never been able to find these pieces for my 75 except at a JY, and I always take them -- hoping I can clean them up and patch them. So far, they are always in the same shape as mine, even after cleaning. There has been one for the driver's side for sale on ebay for a very long time. The owner wants $150.00 for it. There are always several 77-78 pieces for sale for some reason.

I have wondered if replacements could be made from fiberglass body filler using the old ones as a mold or covering the old ones with aluminum duct tape and painting that flat black. I realize it would be a lot of work. I like the idea of trying to make things that are hard to find. I have a 240, don't know if this already possibly impractical idea would work on a 280.

Though not by much, the 77-78 pieces were a little better made, IMO. Mine were in pretty good shape when I got my car but I actually found a pair for the front that were virtually perfect in junkyard when I was refreshing the car.

I've had a bit of luck at junkyards in central New York. Though the northeast takes its toll on the body, rubber and plastic seem to survive up here.
