New Z Owner!

Recommended Posts

I previously owned a 75 280Z and I just purchased this 83 280ZX. The previous owner put a lot of work into it, but there's still lots to do. I had a mechanic check it out and he was pretty much amazed in the condition. I'm going to bring it in next week for the brake repair. I also plan to get the floorboards cut out and replaced in the near future. After that, it will just be a little bit here and there. I'm sure I'll have a ton of questions in the future!

Thanks!

Roman

Awesome classic, rust free 1983 Datsun 280ZX... Z car pampered and maintained as a reliable daily driver or weekend cruiser. This Z had some light bodywork and was repainted. The car is rust free. Underneath is clean and straight as well. This is a high option car with digital dash, power windows and power anti fog mirrors, 5 speed manual transmission and T-tops. Here is a list of upgrades to the Z since I have owned it: 2 Yokohama Tires (Rear), new radiator, new fuel pump, new battery and battery cables, new headliner, new carpeting, new muffler, new polyurethane bushings, new Tokico shocks and springs, new hand parking brake cable installed as well. Rear passenger brake caliper leaks brake fluid slowly while brake is being used, easy fix. Items needed: A/C and heat non-working, although air does blow, windshield washer sensor needs replacing, dash cracked (of course), "talking lady" voice warning equipped but not working, upgrade stereo. Items included: Z Floor mats, Custom nose bra, T Top covers This Z rides and drives straight and shifts smooth... no wiggles, rattles, or shakes. Cruises beautifully. This car is really solid, tight, and fast. Overall, this is a sweet Z in very good condition and with a little work could be an excellent quality collectible or show car. Any Z enthusiast will love this car along with anyone looking for a really cool vintage sports car that can be used as reliable transportation.

Having a little trouble matching up the "rust free" and "having the floorboards cut out and replaced" statements. How bad are they?

Also, have a concern about that era of car where everything is electronic stuff. We were contacted by a gentleman looking for someone to work on his dash that had gone TU. Said he was having no luck on either the parts or talent front and it made me wonder how big a deal fixing all that electronic stuff is.

Don't you mean the seller? Based on reading that ad, it needs more than 'a little work'. I'll tell you what, I'm an HVAC tech and I hate working on those if they have the so called 'climate control'.

They're not that bad. I just want to get it taken care of before it becomes a real problem.

Yep...seller. I'm not out to restore the car. I just want to enjoy driving it. They did have someone restoring a Z come look at it for parts. They said if they got it they planned to use their current one for parts for this one. I don't really expect to have any problems getting the A/C going.
