Posted January 3, 201213 yr comment_376112 Does anyone have an autocross "logbook" or access to one?I have read about them a little, but the descriptions are somewhat vague. Can I ask for a sample of an actual document (a spreadsheet or whatever) or a picture of a page? I could probably design my own, but until I know what all goes on the page(s), I can only guess, and I would probably leave out a lot of important stuff.thxZ Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/41820-autocross-log-book/ Share on other sites
January 3, 201213 yr comment_376187 No such thing. SCCA only issues log books for road racing. Are you taking about a lap sheet? If so, Pegasus sells one here:https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productselection.asp?Product=5205 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/41820-autocross-log-book/#findComment-376187 Share on other sites
January 3, 201213 yr Author comment_376225 I'm not sure what a log book for autocross would look like, but I think autocross and road racing have little in common to use the same sheet to record stuff. From what I've read so far, it includes spaces for tire pressures, shock settings, sway bar setting (?), run times, and other stuff, all grouped together for each individual run. Plus some room to sketch the course. It's odd that you have places to put things like tire pressures, as I've never really had time to get out of the car for a quick drink between runs, let alone measure and record the air pressure of each tire. January 4, 201213 yr Author comment_376243 Actually, there is such a thing, but not from the SCCA: http://www.amazon.com/Autocross-Logbook-Kimberly-Eddleman/dp/0976807629 Edited January 4, 201213 yr by TomoHawk Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/41820-autocross-log-book/#findComment-376243 Share on other sites
January 4, 201213 yr comment_376260 Tomohawk, I would suggest making your own based on the things you want to know and adjust and build it up as you go. I started doing for track days but haven't been back enough to get everything I want. From the looks of what you have attached you might want the standard stuffDateLocationTemperature / WeatherType of surfaceTyre typeTyre pressuresSway barsSpring settings (if adjustable)Shock settings (if adjustable)Brake bias (if adjustable)Run timeAlso handy to have a map of track to make notes where you are not doing it right or bumps or tips other drivers give you (but the track changes from event to event for Autocross)Once you start using it more and more you can edit the basic one and update as events go and work out what you need and what you don't care about. January 4, 201213 yr Author comment_376267 Easier said than done! That's why I'm asking if there already is a document, and I appreciate your input. Most of those things you mentioned are in the book I previously posted. I'll make a big list of items to record and head to the whiteboard sometime to mock up something that can be developed into a printable document. So far, it looks like you need several pages for each event, with a large blank space to draw the course, and all the data PER RUN. It might even be printed on oversize paper, like legal-size or ISO- A3, then bound together. I'll add in: FTD PAX Index PAX Ranking Class Rank Edited January 4, 201213 yr by TomoHawk Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/41820-autocross-log-book/#findComment-376267 Share on other sites
January 5, 201213 yr Author comment_376456 Well, I made up a document that I could use for the average vehicle, but I left out all the fancy stuff like the brake settings. You could write those in or modify the document yourself. I still don't see how one could possibly write in all the tyre pressure stuff, sway bar stuff, and the rest. Even the run time(s) will be interesting, as you usually don't know what it is until the end of the day. January 9, 201213 yr comment_376913 Grassroots Motorsports magazine, around the time of the name change from AutoX magazine, had one available. I have a copy of it and can scan a page of it as soon as I find it. I moved a few times in the last few years but saw it recently. If it's in the shop i'll find it tomorrow. January 20, 201213 yr Author comment_378210 I gave this idea a try while it's snowing, and I think I ended up with something useful. You just print it on legal size paper and have it bound with a wire coil.AutoX LogBook pt Runs (legal Paper) .docAutoX LogBook Course Info (Legal Paper) .doc Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/41820-autocross-log-book/#findComment-378210 Share on other sites
