Ah, the dreaded flat-spot! Enriching your idle circuit will probably mask the low-speed stumble, but you will get worse gas mileage. You shouldn't get popping at high rpm, your main jet must be way out of the range of what your engine needs. If you didn't have these problems beforehand, I'd look elsewhere though.

Are you sure you didn't obstruct a fuel line or change something regarding the fuel system? I would check all filters and lines before doing anything else. Maybe you kinked a fuel line upon engine/transmission installation?

I will investigate that when I get home. Im also leaning towards the timing being way out of wack on it. I know its been jetted for an l28 with raised compression (8.9:1) and a webb 155 cam. Currently I have a stock n42 head'd l28 with a cam (not sure of grind but its not loopy at idle). The carbs ran great on my l24 with stock exhaust. The l28 has a 6-1 to 2.5in exhaust. Would that effect things greatly I'd presume? If you go 100% throttle it stops popping at low RPM which leads me to believe its too lean?

Found some drawings of the three shifter types - http://www.gracieland.org/cars/techtalk/gearing2.html

Down at the bottom.

There are three different shifters for the type B trans. One is a almost straight stick that is spring loded used in some of the ZX cars. The 4 speed and 5 speed have different lengths fom the pivot point to the ball end. You have to check closely to make sure the shift rod has full travel or it will slide out of gear on deceleration. I'm sure of this because i used a longer one in my close ratio zx transplant. First i thouht the trans was bad. As I was about to remove it I noticed that the part that tapers down to the ball end was hitting the edge of the shift rod socket. I ground a notch about 3/4 of the way up, front and back. Problem solved.
