Nobody has mentioned that this car is 2+2. How do they rate in US?

I didn't even notice that since his side view pic wouldn't expand. The 2+2 certainly reduces the desirability of the car (for me), but I'm not sure it changes the value of a $600 car much. If the OP plans to do a full restoration and spend many thousands on it, it could come into play. Then again, we are all very aware that Z cars are not investments and most of the money we spend on them will never be recovered when we sell them.

To the OP, if you WANT a 2+2, great, but if you don't know much about Z cars, you might want to decide now if you want/need the extra size.

the 2+2 will be the next "desireable undesireable" They don't have the appeal, but they are now rare enough to be that much more eccentric and insteresting. I'd own one if one came up for sale for the right price. Six bills seems pretty OK to me.

It sounds like you are a rather young person but that doesn't mean you are not cagey. Something about this rig makes you uncomfortable let alone the person getting ready to sell it. If you really want a project I'm sure there are plenty around the Dallas area. LOOK AROUND! You should probably walk away from this deal. If you find a car that is an everyday driver expect to pay more for it. $600 is not a bad ask for this one based on asthetics but expect to put at least 4 to 5 times that much into it to make it an everyday driver. If you feel uncomfortable walk away and keep looking.

well it is a 2+2 i think. it has the rear seats but everything in the inside is trash. the only thing i could reuse it the dash. i will want to make it a 2 seater and take out the rear seates anyways. ionly want it as a project for now. maybe in the future itmight be my daily driver. i going to try to get the vin and then look up online the history of the car,any wrecks, owners, etc... as for the title im not sure yet. i want to go but work and school has not let me go. maybe by next week ill see the title. but for now my daily driver(95 civic 4dr) just broke down on friday. i got it fixed on sat but now its making another noise. thats where all my money has gone to. to say the least it was just an easy fix( tensioner from the ac belt fell off and cut the power stering belt.) before that it didnt turn on. that took 3 weeks to find out the problem. so for now the 280z will have to wait til i get my daily driver is back to normal. i will post more pics later of the underbody and the inside and the engine. sorry for the crappy pics but i dont have a good phone.

It is definitely a 2+2.

That's a waste of time if you're thinking of using Carfax or some other similar service. You MIGHT be able to get more info through the DMV, but I don't think they give out that information readily.

Taking the seats out of a 2+2 doesn't make it a coupe. It makes it a 2+2 with missing parts. I'm not sure, but 2+2 interior parts might be getting hard to find. Since that interior is trashed, finding door panels and other plastic trim might be hard and pricey. When I said it was a good deal, I had only looked at the first 2 pics you posted and didn't see that it was a 2+2. I'd keep looking.

it was just an idea.i dont know of any other place that i could get the history of the car. one question...it the 280 z a unibody or chassis frame?

The online services don't handle the shorter VINs of pre 1981 cars.

As for the construction, all S30s are unibody.

i dont care if i cant find the original parts. ican alwayshabe them custom built. its not like im trying to restore the car. i want to fix it up and make it my own but still have the classic look of the 280z. plus i dont plan on selling it as soon as its done. but u have a point. i have looked around but i could only find stripped 280s and they go for more than 600. and they are all rusted up too.
