I have a 82 280zx non turbo and the first gear in it is torn to shreds i got the transmission apart and no other gear will work cause the first gear is broken. does any one know where i can get a new/used transmission for less than three hundred? i have found a whole bunch of rebuild and new ones but they go for more than a grand.

You might want to try your local junkyard or car-part.com. These datsun transmissions can be acquired for very reasonable prices if you look around. I got my 5 speed from a donor 1983 280zx a guy sold me for 100 bucks. In SoCal, we have a junkyard where you pull parts yourself called Pick-A-Part where a transmission costs about $175 (any transmission, any year).
