Ok i checked all the post i could on this before i started. and did just as they said. first the grease seal was hard to get all the way in. when i put the hub on i tightened the nut down a little to help seat the grease seal then backed it off a little. took the hub back off looks good now put it back on but it is not smooth if i snug it down and if i back it off there is some play. it is not right. do i need to get it real tight to seat the bearing then back it off? i don't want to over tighten it.

There's a specific procedure in the service manual. You should tighten the nut to 30-35 Nm (21-25 ft.lbs), turn the wheel CW & CCW several times. It should be tight. Retorque to spec the nut since bearing might have sit, turn the wheel again.

Then, you should loosen the nut by 60°. if hole for pin is not well located, you can untighten the nut by 15° more. You should be good with that. If you're not, inspect parts, something is wrong.
