Rebuilding L24 need advice

hey guys. ive ripped my L24 out my 240K, and im looking at freshening it up a bit.

ive got a set of early 240Z SU carbs to put on it, that im looking at getting restored. anyone had experience with getting them cleaned and re-coated?

What are peoples opinions on what I should do to the motor thats worthwhile.

So far im thinking: valve seat grind, rings, bearings, gaskets, bore hone. (Will be doing most the work myself)

-been told timing chains on these motors are worth changing?

-mechanical fuel pump? change to electric?

-was looking at the 280z dizzy, but im not keen on losing my tacho?

-bigger alternator worth while?

-etc

I have no experience with these motors so any help is appreciated!

cheers

Terry

The L24 is a great motor and are tough as nails. There is a ton of info on this site and others as far as what people have done to these motors----and stuff that really didn't need to be done too! Your question is very general and you might want to do more searching and come up with a plan that the members here can help you refine. If you are doing the work yourself, than the time invested searching with be priceless.
