280 tach into 240 with an SR

Thought this might be of interest to some. Don't know how hard core you guys are about swapping things so hope this is not out of line.

I put an SR20DET in my 240Z. I want it to not be real noticeable from the outside so I am keeping most everything stock looking(except for the 300hp and 30mpg thing). I wanted the gauges to remain stock but the tach wouldn't work with the SR. I found a 280Z tach and put it in the 240 housing. I used an MSD tach box to hook up the 280 tach. I also hooked up a stock SR tach for comparison purposes. I then matched the 280 tach to the SR tach at 3500rpm using the adjustable pot on the back of the 280 tach. It worked like a charm. I have a friend that used the 280 tach for an LT also and gave me the idea so it looks like it will work with less or more cylinders.

The tach reacts very quickly and is accurate through the whole range. I now have all the stock gauges working and fixed the dash light bulbs and heater controls while I was there. I pulled the heater controls out to get to the tach. It is a bear to get the tach out on a 240 but easier on the 280.
