Posted January 22, 201213 yr comment_378400 Does any one have a picture of a door panel and the piece to the rear of it, (the piece that is clipped to the dog leg?) Ideally I would like to dee the two together without a seat in the car, but I'll take what I can get.I'm going to repaint the panels 2 tone and I need to figure out where the boundaries should be for each color. Also, any new ideas for the chrome strips in the door panels? One of the posts I read said to use a 3/8" adhesive strip from an auto parts store. I was only able to locate 1/4 ", which is not wide enough.Thanks. January 22, 201213 yr comment_378411 For the chrome strip, try a hobby store for Monokote adhesive trim in chrome silver. Pic isn't exactl what you want, but might help. Bottom-line, the chrome strips line-up if everything is properly assembled. January 22, 201213 yr comment_378456 I basically copied interior I did years ago in my previous Z. Seats are custom. Vinyl side panels with upholstery cloth center inserts. The center fabric is a dark grey/light tweed. I "think" name of the fabric was "Opal". I can look it up in my records if you like.Carpet is a charcoal loop I got from from Home Depot. Used old carpet as patterns and finished with sewn vinyl edging. January 23, 201213 yr Author comment_378538 Thanks for the replies, guys. I will be doing a pattern similar to Julios but with a burgundy vinyl in the insets. Eventually I will install 300 ZX seats once they are painted 2 tone to match. February 15, 201213 yr Author comment_380815 I thought I'd post a follow up here. On a test panel, I tried 2 different silver rattle cans that I had at the shop. I also bought some chrome adhesive pinstriping, since I couldn't find any mylar at the hobby shop, and finally I bought some Duplicolor Instant Chrome. The pinstriping was definitely the most chrome looking, but I couldn't get it to stick to the tight curve of the plastic bead, so I ended up using the Duplicolor. While it is by no means mistakeable for chrome (i.e you will not be spraying it on a flat surface and then using it for shaving in the morning) it has a much higher reflectivity than either of the silver paints. I would say it has 70%-80% of the reflection/brilliance of chrome. The final door panel is shown below. Hope this helps someone else down the road. February 15, 201213 yr comment_380840 I found some silver/aluminum duct sealing tape at Ace, applied and cut to size with an exacto knife. Definitely not chrome, more of a polished aluminum look but it is consistent and doesn't look toooo shabby. Better than the chrome with blue gaps. So far has worn well, and the roll was about $5 with plenty left over in case a redo is necessary in the future. February 16, 201213 yr Author comment_380885 I forgot to mention that I tried tape as well on the test panel. The problem I had with my tape is that the aluminum was so soft that when it got scraped (by fingernail) it left marks.
