Posted January 24, 201213 yr comment_378568 Like the title says, I need some visual help on putting together my linkage from my PHH 40 Mikunis to the firewall of my 71-240. I have been studying pics on this site and others but not having much luck seeing what i want to see.I am running a Mikuni shorty manifold. The kit I bought had an extra bellcrank with a ball on it for the rod and ball linkage. Presently I am thinking of cutting my SU rod and mounting this bellcrank on it and doing something like that.(I will post a pic when this is done), but like to see what others have come up with. So if you have any close-ups of the firewall set-up that would be great. January 24, 201213 yr comment_378593 My advise is to do away with the old linkage in it's entirety from the pedal to the carbs..........you'll be glad you did. Check out my garage for info. Just smooth acceleration from stop to go. No more jerking and dead spots in the linkage cause it's not there. January 24, 201213 yr Author comment_378596 Mitchell, is that a kit and does the cable bracket bolt directly to the side of the carb? January 24, 201213 yr comment_378598 "I am thinking of cutting my SU rod and mounting this bellcrank on it " This is what the Mikuni instructions call for. I've attached a scan of the instructions.Sammikuni.pdf Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/42047-need-pics-of-triple-mikuni-linkage-especially-from-firewall/#findComment-378598 Share on other sites
January 24, 201213 yr Author comment_378609 Sam, I believe I have those same instructions, but I didn't get the "stay holder" as they call it. Plus my lever rod was different. This was a slightly used kit , so I might be missing something. January 24, 201213 yr comment_378622 The "stay holder" bolts to the cover of the last carb and holds the "terminal holder". You should be able to make one pretty easy using something like this: http://www.jegs.com/i/Mr-Gasket/720/3811G/10002/-1?parentProductId=763730 I have attached a pic of my old setup so you can see where everything bolts together. January 24, 201213 yr Author comment_378630 Thanks Sam , looks like I will be doing the same thing as you. I already made a stay that I think will work. Now that I have seen your set- up I feel better about my idea. January 24, 201213 yr comment_378642 I do not have that setup anymore. The picture is of the "stock" Mikuni system.Glad to have helped.Sam Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/42047-need-pics-of-triple-mikuni-linkage-especially-from-firewall/#findComment-378642 Share on other sites
January 24, 201213 yr comment_378655 Lokar Throttle Cable - I would strongly recommend this modificaiton to anybody looking to remove the old linkage. Just attach to the gas pedal - through the fire wall - to the carb using the support - pretty straight forward install - no linkage slack at all - no linkage binding period. I'll never go back to the old linkage (I did keep the throttle linkage setup and the SU's, and they are in storage). Let me know if I can explain anything in more detail. January 25, 201213 yr Author comment_378666 I have been looking at the Lokar web site and trying to figure out what kit you have. So these are about 150$ ??It does look good and I bet it is smooth operation Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/42047-need-pics-of-triple-mikuni-linkage-especially-from-firewall/#findComment-378666 Share on other sites
January 25, 201213 yr comment_378667 Steve-Be sure to review this thread - good stuff and not as much money as you think. I got my support bracket from Wolf Creek Racing.http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?30584-Accelerator-linkage-fix-questions Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/42047-need-pics-of-triple-mikuni-linkage-especially-from-firewall/#findComment-378667 Share on other sites
