norcal z Posted January 11, 2003 Share #1 Posted January 11, 2003 I was looking at the newsgroup alt.autos.nissan.z-car and saw an ad for this car. The picture is fairly small, but it looks like it might be in decent condition. Copied below is the text message and jpg. 260z Posted January 12, 2003 Share #3 Posted January 12, 2003 So who wants to drive it to Finland? I wish we had as sweet deals as that.....Atleast it looks fine in those pics but what can you really tell by watching them....Here you can have a piece of sh..t for 2000...My first 240Z had severe rust problems no original carbs, no fan/cooling, rusted bumpers, self-made backwheelarches, hidious interior, busted clock, non-working tacho, smashed synchro in 2nd gear, twisted slot-mags...It had been stripped of many original valuable stuff and replaced with something else or just faulty items. The painting was awfull. I paid about 2600 invested 700 and sold it for 3500....Then I bought my present 260z Which was just painted and has every original stuff on it(exept flat tops)....No rust.. I paid 4150.. Could sell it for 5000 or more...At the moment only adverts about s30 z's are the ones that are interested in buying!!

Hi 260z -I beleive it probably is as good as his brief description, since he apparently is the original owner and because in Orange County, California (Southern Calif.) it doesn't rain much, so there's a lot less opportunity for rust to develop (I was born in Long Beach, which is "next door" to OC) than with other locations, even here in Northern Calif. The owner did send me a note back yesterday, thanking me for putting this thread up. He also said that he doesn't drive it much, but does enough to keep it running. His name is Pete.As for his asking price, I only paid $1000 for mine (OK, that WAS 4 years ago), and while it was in running condition, it needs everything rebuilt or replaced mechanically and cosmetically. It has almost no rust, however (even under the battery tray!), and that's what I was mainly interested in at the time. It spent it's life in and around the Sacramento, CA area (N. Calif Central Valley). If I had it to do over again, I'd probably look for one in a little better condition, but this stuff is FUN, right?.gary(who needs to get to work on that thing!) Mike Posted January 12, 2003 Share #5 Posted January 12, 2003 Original owner? Minimal rust? This car sounds like a steal. Who's gonna go buy it before some kid gets it and slams it up against a truck?

I have corresponded with him at that address, and it IS valid. His name is Pete. I'd suggest you try again. gary

Mike Posted January 15, 2003 Share #9 Posted January 15, 2003 Oh yea... sometimes people do that because of "website scanners" that are used to rip out email addresses.Believe it or not, people frequently set up software to scan websites like ours for valid email addresses. They rip the emails and then send you SPAM.To avoid this, just make sure you post your email with some kind of preventive measure like this. Let's say your email is frank@hotmail.com. You can make your address non-detectible by these scanners by using these formats:111frank@hotmail.com (remove the 111 to send mail)frank at hotmail dot comfrank@removeme.hotmail.comfrank.removeme@hotmail.cometcYou sorta get the idea. That's why he did this.
