February 17, 201213 yr comment_381032 Did they really cut out the rear structure of the hood when mounting the cowl like this guy did? I saw one at a car show some years back where the owner had the hood louvered so the cowl could be removed and the engine bay would still breath. I personally liked the cowl off look better. February 18, 201213 yr comment_381228 Did they really cut out the rear structure of the hood when mounting the cowl like this guy did? No - see picture below: It wasn't really so much a "competition" hood vent - as it was a last ditch effort to get certain 73 240Z's to run with the emissions carb's. - when all other fuel system modifications failed to work to the customers satisfaction. February 19, 201213 yr comment_381249 The photo of the underside of my '73 hood with the "Competition" vent matches what Carl's diagram shows. Unfortunately, the dealer's paint didn't hold up as well as the factory's. February 19, 201213 yr comment_381348 That looks more like it, I'm in the market for a hood without the scoop, of which I'm not a fan. This thread caught my eye for that reason, I would be supprised if that hood would even accept latch gear. February 19, 201213 yr comment_381351 I see what you mean now, 5th. I hadn't clicked on the thumbnails until now, though the actual pictures aren't much better. That probably explains what appears to be hood pin holes in the corners. That hood is not worth $100 because it's basically scrap metal............
