johnny haywire Posted March 5, 2012 Author Share #13 Posted March 5, 2012 Thanks again for the warm welcome, everyone!@ Grantf - definitely going to go through every single vacuum hose on her. There more than likely is a vacuum problem here and there, I did replace a few before making the trip home, but by no means all of them. I also intend to pull the heater core and flush her out proper and replace the interior hoses while I'm at it. Despite the fact that I'm standing at the bottom of a mountain of work to be done, I'm still really excited.

Montezuma Posted March 13, 2012 Share #17 Posted March 13, 2012 What a cool journey; the log is a fun read. Most of the stuff you needed for a safe long trip back I had new on my self in the garage here in San Diego. I even have a nice 4 core radiator for a 78. My old 78 which I gave to the neighbor kid was wrecked and many of the parts were/are available. I am sure you car sticks in the Chicago area. I was there in October for a college football game; stayed in Wrigleyville which was just awesome. Welcome to the club and I hope you enjoy your Z for years to come. johnny haywire Posted March 14, 2012 Author Share #18 Posted March 14, 2012 Thanks, Montezuma. Wish I would have had your number then, would have come in handy. Looking forward to bringing her back to tip-top. Had her out on the road today - 72 degrees in March, not bad for Chicago weather! Supposed to hit 80 tomorrow! Drop me a line next time you are in town, eh?
