Greetings from sunny Ohio-

From the (service outage/message) a few days ago, you know there were some updates to this system, like the new side bars, but every time I click the link to see the list of new posts, there are over 100 (four screens) no matter how much time has elapsed; it could be a few minutes or a few hours.

Are things working right?

Also, before the recent updates, the left sidebar could be collapsed permanently, and now the right side bar (club stats) is open each time you get a new screen.

I could go my big computer with the 30-inch screen and have room to browse two website at once, but all my other computers have 'normal-sized screens' so I kinda miss the way theold layout worked.

Maybe a few tweaks are in order to perfect things?

thxZ

Hey Mike, what's with the scrolling recent posts? I hate to complain, but I really don't care for it at all. I used to use the recent post list to scan for what I wanted to read or respond to. I don't have the time or patience to wait for the list to scroll through.

This is one change I just can't get behind.

My 2 cents.

Marty

I hate to be a complainer, especially for essentially free things, but the site logs people off too quickly if they leave the page. Is there any way to change that? And why can't the new, interesting posts be shown on the front page like they used to be? Why do we have to log on to see that nothing's going on?

The old way, you could take look and decide whether to log on and get involved. Now you have to log on, to see that nothing is happening, then log on again an hour later if you want to take another look. If you're hoping for a response to an interesting topic on a slow day, it's log-on-nothing, log-on-nothing, over and over.

Hybridz recently did the same thing, but you can log on once over there and stay logged-on all day. I assume there's some sort of ad revenue reason for making people log-on, but maybe it could be made easier to keep up with the party.

Thanks.

Not really sure why you're having this issue, but, I do have a few ideas. Have you added our site to your trusted list or white list? Also be sure you select "remember me" and this shouldn't happen. The problem is typically caused by not allowing cookies from our site. FYI, our cookie is stored on your computer under .classiczcars.com.

Again, I don't know why you have to log in to see the recent threads. This shouldn't be the case because I've tried it even on a friend's machine.

Shouldn't be an ad revenue thing because that refreshes every time your computer either connects or disconnects from the URL (not the login). There's also no ad revenue given unless you actually CLICK on the banner, so, that's not our motivation behind this issue. If you wanted to actually help us pay our bills, you could click on every banner you see... :)

I think you're dealing with configuration issues between the two sites. As far as content, why don't you post a few more messages and get involved... Thanks for the feedback, it's good to understand how things work on the front end.

Thanks for the reply. I can see the recent posts if I go to the individual forums. But the new "10 Most Recent Posts" doesn't show unless I'm logged in. No log in, that spot is blank. Plus, the old format showed more than 10.

The ad revenue comment is just me trying to figure out the rationale behind making people log in before being able to see certain things. Some sites won't show anything unless you're logged, some sites let you see and search everything without being logged in (e.g. zcar.com). Others will let you look but not search (e.g. Hybridz, and this site in the old format).

The auto logging out is probably a cookie thing. Hybridz and Hotmail though, stayed logged-in as long as you the browser stays open, without the "remember me". I'll see what happens here with "remember me" checked.

Thanks again. Change might be good but sometimes it's aggravating...

What I want to see is most recent posts. But accessing from iPhone, the Top 10 Recent Posts and Top 10 This week are not showing.

I just notice there are Mobile Apps for iPhone and Android for $0.99. I don't mind purchasing app, however, even though paid app, it contains Ads that bothers me...

Okay, I have minimal techno savvy and find that even logged in, I only get the last 10 posts and see no easy avenue to access a list of say the last 40 or 50 threads that have received posts. I do not readily see any single click avenue for expanding the number of recent additions to threads. I am easily confused here so maybe I have missed the obvious but the most valued thing that I miss, is the ability to easily click on the recent history of additions for the last few days or so,

Hope this makes sense.

Regards

Dave

I selected "Remember ME' when logging in but the site logged me off anyway, after about an hour of inactivity. On Hybridz it turns out that default is Remember Me. Hotmail's default is unselected. But I'm pretty sure that the Remember Me cookies are saved for when you turn the computer on and off, and don't have anything to do with the site logging you off against your wishes.

Just following up. I'm using Mozilla Firefox, maybe that's a clue.
