Posted March 10, 201212 yr comment_383610 I'm thinking about sending my 75 dash out and having it redone. I've done some extensive searches on the forum and am in doubt about sending it to Dashboard Restorations based on the 7+ month turn around and spotty communication that some here have experienced. That's the reason for my questions about Just Dashes.Any input would be appreciated. Mine now is has 2 cracks and the PO glued a dash cover down. It doesn't look terrible but it stands out to me. I don't mind the cost but I'm very particular on the job being done perfectly (that's why I don't want to do it myself). March 10, 201212 yr comment_383613 I've used Just Dashes to repair a panel on my Avanti. The work was well done - texture was matched, color matched, and delivered when promised.Dennis Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/42565-just-dashes-any-experience/#findComment-383613 Share on other sites
March 11, 201212 yr comment_383773 The dash from my early '74 260Z has been with Just Dashes for just over a month now. Hope to have it back in the next couple weeks. Will be happy to share my experience along with photos.. Check out post #17 on this thread to see what the dash looked like to begin with. Two cracks as well but no dash cap.http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?44850-Assembling-early-260Z&highlight= Edited March 12, 201212 yr by Arne No edit, tried to click the Quote button, got Edit instead. March 12, 201212 yr comment_383789 The dash from my early '74 260Z has been with Just Dashes for just over a month now.Tom, I'm curious. I've heard of a dash shop there in Medford - Dash Specialists, 1910 Redbud Ln, Medford, OR 97504. Are they still in business? If so, and assuming you have heard of them (they apparently have no web presence), why did you select Just Dashes instead? March 14, 201212 yr comment_384106 Hey Arne.. Unfortunately I missed the shop you mentioned due to the lack of web presence. Hadn't heard of them before you posted the details. Like many others, I rely heavily on internet presence and search results. Just Dashes has a good website with lots of examples of their work and that was a big selling point.I'm presently away at work but will return soon. I think I'll go find this shop once I get home and see what they have to offer. I'll be happy to relay my experience and impression of the place to any who are interested but it's too late for my project. March 14, 201212 yr comment_384121 I'm thinking of pulling my dash next winter and doing the same thing plus total HVAC restoration as well (just put in the Honda blower - big difference in fan volume) - keep us updated as I'm sure this thread will get eyed a lot......Watch the video - pretty damn good and a lot of great info on how they restore dasheshttp://www.justdashes.com/ Edited March 15, 201212 yr by Travel'n Man Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/42565-just-dashes-any-experience/#findComment-384121 Share on other sites
March 15, 201212 yr comment_384136 I used Just Dashes for my GTO dash and console. Still look like new 12 years later. If i recall right I paid around $600 for the dash at the time. March 15, 201212 yr comment_384174 Thanks Greg, your experience confirms the craftsmanship of Just Dashes. I found many stories like yours when I was looking for a place to have my dash restored. While considerably more expensive today, it will be worth it if my experience is as good as yours.Pictures to follow upon receipt of my restored dash... April 14, 201212 yr comment_387036 Received the dash for my 260Z from Just Dashes earlier this week. I'm happy with the way it turned out though I did call them to ask about the replacement of the old foam, as it was clear that all of the old foam was not removed from the metal skeleton of the dash. My peeve is simply that the videos and descriptions of the work displayed on the Just Dashes website leads one to believe that "all the old foam is removed" from the frame... When in reality, they remove 'some' of the old foam, keeping the overall shape of the piece, replacing the old with a 'good layer' of new foam closest to the vinyl covering, which they explained is most important anyway.. It will certainly be fine but I disagree with the way they advertise and market the service, that's all.. Enough about that... On to the important stuff... The photos...
