March 11, 201213 yr comment_383682 I agree with those that tell you to NOT buy the car except for parts. It will not be worth any amount of $$ you put into it, ever. March 11, 201213 yr comment_383689 Mine was in a similar condition when i bought it and i've spent months just fabricating and welding. If you're not prepared for a lot hard work then i'd stay far away. But on a positive note, i was able to pick one up for not a lot of money, even though i've had to spend money on wire, steel, disc's etc. I've gained experience and mostly enjoyed the restoring process. An inspection pit was essential for me. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/42567-is-the-rust-too-bad/?&page=2#findComment-383689 Share on other sites
March 11, 201213 yr comment_383697 Same here. I got mine for $300. not running, rust not as bad, but close. I got my car for a fun project and did all the work myself. It depends on how much time you are willing to put into it. That car can be saved but if you are going to hire out the work forget it. March 11, 201213 yr comment_383754 Like everyone else has stated, unless you have lots of time, really deep pockets and are willing to learn new skills, this one is pretty diseased. I'd pass and look for something better. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/42567-is-the-rust-too-bad/?&page=2#findComment-383754 Share on other sites
March 14, 201213 yr comment_384004 Looks better than my first Z did when I brought it home. Body work is expensive but most pretty things are... Datsun or not. March 22, 201213 yr comment_385008 What I can see from the pics can be fixed, but have you looked at the Frame Rails and Floor Pan? Pull the carpet up and start poking around with a screw driver. Look at the Frame Rails, poke around on those too. It those places are solid, I would say there is potential - if not save your $800 for a better Z to start on. Does it run at all? Does it even turn over? This could be a really nice parts car as it easily has more than $800 in valuable parts. If you do buy this Z, go to a paint store and buy a gallon of Phosphoric Acid and soak all of that rust a couple of times. Good luck. March 24, 201213 yr comment_385197 unless you are sitting on at least 10k and have some serious metal work skills pass on this. besides the rust I seen dryer out weatherstrip, and a interior that needs at least a few hundred to get it freshened up. IMO that is a parts car. my car had about 10% of that rust and I have already spent a mint bringing her back Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/42567-is-the-rust-too-bad/?&page=2#findComment-385197 Share on other sites
March 24, 201213 yr comment_385199 I'd jack up the radiator cap and put a different car under it! Edited March 24, 201213 yr by Diseazd Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/42567-is-the-rust-too-bad/?&page=2#findComment-385199 Share on other sites
