is the rust too bad?

Mine was in a similar condition when i bought it and i've spent months just fabricating and welding. If you're not prepared for a lot hard work then i'd stay far away. But on a positive note, i was able to pick one up for not a lot of money, even though i've had to spend money on wire, steel, disc's etc. I've gained experience and mostly enjoyed the restoring process. An inspection pit was essential for me.

Same here. I got mine for $300. not running, rust not as bad, but close. I got my car for a fun project and did all the work myself. It depends on how much time you are willing to put into it. That car can be saved but if you are going to hire out the work forget it.

What I can see from the pics can be fixed, but have you looked at the Frame Rails and Floor Pan? Pull the carpet up and start poking around with a screw driver. Look at the Frame Rails, poke around on those too. It those places are solid, I would say there is potential - if not save your $800 for a better Z to start on. Does it run at all? Does it even turn over? This could be a really nice parts car as it easily has more than $800 in valuable parts. If you do buy this Z, go to a paint store and buy a gallon of Phosphoric Acid and soak all of that rust a couple of times. Good luck.

unless you are sitting on at least 10k and have some serious metal work skills pass on this. besides the rust I seen dryer out weatherstrip, and a interior that needs at least a few hundred to get it freshened up. IMO that is a parts car. my car had about 10% of that rust and I have already spent a mint bringing her back
