While the West Coast was groovin’ to the sounds of the “Summer of Love†in 1967, Detroit was pumping out a hard-driving, gritty, raw sound that was “LOUDER THAN LOVE †The Grande Ballroom stood as the epicenter of the Detroit rock music scene in the late ‘60s. Serving as the launching pad for bands such as MC5, Iggy & The Stooges, Ted Nugent, and Alice Cooper, the Grande also inspired bands from all over the U.S. and Great Britain. Legendary acts like Led Zeppelin, Cream, B.B. King, Janis Joplin, and The Who graced The Grande main stage on a regular basis. black gold man Posted March 12, 2012 Author Share #3 Posted March 12, 2012 Another great film that may never see a release here is the preview. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=poSGb1gtvZU One day i saw a story about the only natural river flowing through DETROIT at Elmwood Cemetery i thought i should go see that. The river was paved over before and after but still there in the old cemetery. Then i found out FRED was there the rock with Sonic carved on it is his tombstone. So i went this place is like a park little river with a pond. This place has history a lot of bloodshed there in the 1800s Indians. The river ran red. Fred "Sonic" Smith and the beginnings of the MC5 Mike just passed couple weeks ago.
