Posted March 21, 201213 yr comment_384799 Does anyone know where to get the gasket for the timing chain tensioner? I purchased a complete timing kit, but to my surprise there was not one included. I have search many different Z parts sites but still have not had any luck finding one. Would using Form-A-Gasket be an acceptable alternative? March 21, 201213 yr comment_384800 You don't need one.......just torque it to the block. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/42690-gasket-for-timing-chain-tensioner/#findComment-384800 Share on other sites
March 21, 201213 yr Author comment_384804 Thanks for the quick reply, I was just concerned that it would have an adverse effect since the tensioner was controlled by oil pressure along with the spring. March 21, 201213 yr comment_384805 It seals metal to metal........Nissan recognized this and quit supplying gaskets years ago. Don't use anything. Just bolt it up and torque to spec. March 21, 201213 yr comment_384814 Agreed! No gasket needed. However, I always make sure there are no burrs on the tensioner face. A piece of 400 wet sand paper on a hunk of glass, and work the the contact area lightly. A nice smooth surface will seal up great. And if it does leak a bit?!!! OMG, some oil will get inside your timing cover!
