An L24 engine with a number of 005164 is still in the range of what might be expected for HLS30-01955. The L24 was used in other model Nissan vehicles, so the engine number is always higher than the VIN number of the car for North American market cars. You need to check the data plate on the rights shock tower in the engine bay to see if that is the original engine for your car. Both the VIN and engine number are listed on it, and the engine number should match what is on the block. Also, there were several other models of the S30 family being produced at the same time (and well before) yours, so yours is not the "1955th off the line".

LOL I also found some very creative body work on the floors. Lots of self tapping screws and tar, although it was no piece of art. The most difficult part to reproduce is under the battery tray, hopefully yours is salvageable. Floors are not too bad of a job though. A piece of advice having done the job already is to grind off/out the spot welds where they attach under the doors. I drilled them out one one side and then had to plug weld and grind them flat after. It was way faster just to grind them flush and peel off what was left. Drilling out the seat bracket spot welds worked great because once the new floors are in you just have to fill in the holes while tying them into the new metal.

just my 2 cents

Mike B beat me to it. I have been away for the weekend and just catching up. I was going to respond to the same points. Welcome aboard!

So... if that's the case, the numbers match, I want to suggest that if you plan to severely modify a car, do it to a less valuable model year. HLS30-01955 isn't all that low, but it's still a first year car and there really aren't that many of them around. My cars have floors and rails in them and I don't think it's all that big of a deal. By the time you are finished you should have a very nice early example.
