Posted March 30, 201212 yr comment_385786 Will a pint cover the tank or will it take a quart? It's a '77 but I'm not sure about the capacity. Thanks for any answers. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/42797-por-15-amount/ Share on other sites
March 30, 201212 yr comment_385798 Are you asking about painting the outside of the tank, or using POR-15's product to seal the inside of the tank?A pint will cover the outside of the tank... just make sure you spray whatever top coat {paint} you plan to use - on - while the POR-15 is still tacky.. March 30, 201212 yr comment_385804 I usually don't counter Carl, but about 1.5 - 2.0 oz's of a 4 oz can will do the outside of the gas tank. Top coating is optional since it won't be getting much UV. March 30, 201212 yr comment_385806 POR-15 is VERY viscous - it will run like a rabbit if applied too heavily. A little goes a long way. Be sure to get the instruction sheet and read it thoroughly before getting underway.Jim Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/42797-por-15-amount/#findComment-385806 Share on other sites
March 30, 201212 yr comment_385808 Use their Gas Tank Sealer for the INSIDE of the tank, and the regular POR for the outside. However, in BOTH instances make sure you use their Marine Clean AND the Metal Prep solutions. Those that have followed the instructions to the letter have had exceptional results, those that have "improvised" have had problems. You decide.E Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/42797-por-15-amount/#findComment-385808 Share on other sites
