Posted April 16, 201212 yr comment_387254 I'm going to replace my Eibach springs with a set of European springs that I bought years ago. Since my primary goal is to improve the ride, I suspect that the KYB GR-2 shocks are a bigger factor. I've read other threads that suggest illuminas and koni adjustable shocks are pretty stiff even on their lowest settings. Any recommendations for less firm shocks? April 16, 201212 yr comment_387258 I ran the GR-2 inserts with my Euro Stage 1 springs, I felt the ride was fine. Firm, but not harsh. I'd recommend the KYBs as a good match with those springs. But have you researched the ride height issue with those Euro springs? You will need to cut them down to even get to stock ride height, which is still significantly higher than the Eibachs you now run. April 16, 201212 yr comment_387264 On my 72 I have Konis with cut stock springs at the front, and cut 260 springs at the rear. On the lowest setting the Konis are quite OK Any higher they give a pretty firm ride. April 16, 201212 yr Author comment_387284 Thanks for the responses. I found several good threads by Carl Beck about the Euro springs. I definitely don't want to raise the car a couple of inches. 8-) I made an error in my original post. I actually have Tokico HP struts (found the warranty card) and was considering replacing them with the KYBs to reduce the firmness. Does anyone know the Tokicos and KYBs compare? April 16, 201212 yr comment_387297 KYBs will be softer than the Tokicos, but if the car is lowered they may not last long. There have been mixed results with KYBs on cars with reduced suspension travel. April 20, 201212 yr Author comment_387687 I'm nervous about cutting the Euro Stage I springs. Two threads I found had different recommendations: one says cut the front 1 turn and the rear 1 1/2 turns, the other recommends 1 turn in the front and none in the rear. I believe both suggested this would result in approximately stock ride height. I do not want to ruin these springs. Anyone have experience modifying these springs for a U.S. 240z? This post should probably be a new thread... April 20, 201212 yr comment_387725 Yeah, I did it to mine. I'll need to hunt down my prior post to be certain how much I cut. I believe I cut more than either of the two you posted. Had them out for cutting 2 or 3 times, cutting a bit at a time until I got it down to stock-ish height. Mine was about 1/4" high at the end - I figured that was close enough.
