Posted April 20, 201212 yr comment_387763 Finally I'm down to 3 bags of bushings. The best help tool was a small bottle jack, by the way. My question regards the front control arms and the rear control arms as well as the 4 bump stops, that's the 3 bags left. I will be replacing my stuts after I get all this other stuff done, probably next year. Won't I have to disassemble the control arms when replacing the struts? And don't these bump stops go at the top of my struts? I'm so sick of that silicone like grease I want to wait until the strut job to finish with the bushings. Thanks for any replies.Cliff Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/42991-energy-suspension-question/ Share on other sites
April 20, 201212 yr comment_387773 Yes, according to the factory service manual you can R&R the struts without removing the control arms. In the rear you will need to remove the spindle pin and separate the outer bushings, so you cannot avoid the bushings entirely. April 21, 201212 yr comment_387777 Take the easy one first: yes, bump stops will slip onto the strut shafts prior to re-assembling the springs and the retainer caps. Strut cartridges can be replaced without removing the uprights from the LCA's. The front LCA does have to be removed from the upright to replace the outer bushings. The rear LCA has to be removed from the upright ONLY IF you are replacing the outer bushings. This involves pulling the spindles and can be a BFD. Search the forum on what is involved and some of the problems that might be encountered before attempting this changeout.Hope this helps.Jim Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/42991-energy-suspension-question/#findComment-387777 Share on other sites
April 21, 201212 yr Author comment_387799 That's what I was worried about, BFD (if that means what I think). Thanks. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/42991-energy-suspension-question/#findComment-387799 Share on other sites
