Back in 1987 I was visiting the Henry Ford Museum and came across this model “Datsun 240Z”. I failed to make note of the details on the exhibit card. From the rear bumper rubber finisher, it appears to be a 1972 or 1973. Note, the lack of fender badge and rubber bumper trim.

Does anyone have additional information on this model?

A Datto in the Ford museum!!!??

Ford was a genius with too much money. He got bored and sent his people out across the us to capture America buying up what ever they thought was significant.

Hmm. It has no rear sidemarker.

I went to the HF museum about that same time. I don't remember that Z car though. It's a really cool museum. I would like to know more about that model too.

A little googling and I found another partial shot of the model. Photographer described it as a scale model of the original 240Z.

Hmm. It has no rear sidemarker.

Rear sidemarkers were for North American cars only. The lack of those lights, the logo-less hubcaps and the lack of rubber strips on the bumper all tend to point to a JDM car. Looks like clear front turn signals, too.

I thought the windows looked not real before the "scale model" was brought to light.

I know this must be the full scale model FORD did off the MR AVERY design drawings.

They are like what we got in the back room. Pull that DETROIT Z out.
