Just saw this on the BRE page of Bookfaced. My prayers to you Victor!

A friend in need: We all love our cars but what makes being a "car guy" (that refers to us ladies too) so special is that our cars bring us together and make us a warm and caring family. You have a great car you're in the family, automatically! Victor Laury is a member of that family (along with the SoCal Roadster Club). He's had every kind of Datsun imaginable. Everyone says the same thing about... Victor, a great guy that helps everybody.

Well now Victor is in need. He's suffered a stroke and he and his "direct" family could use our help. A raffle is being held so someone else who's worthy, can own Victor's beautiful 1970 Datsun 2000 Roadster. Raffle tickets are $100 (you can enter multiple times). A max of 300 tickets will be issued so pretty good odds! If you just want to send a donation that's okay too. Go to this link http://www.bre2.net/index.php?section=124 and you will find details on the car, the raffle entry form and details on where you can send your raffle entry or donation.

Thanks for being a part of this great family.

  • 2 weeks later...

I went and saw Victor a week ago (well, the weekend of the MSA show, so that is a bit more than a week).

He appreciates all the support, and I don't mean to speak for him, but he REALLY needs the support right now (and I don't mean financially)

Victor is sharp, and as bright as ever. He will have a long, tough road getting back to being physically able to enjoy his Dats-toys, but we are trying to help with that.

The Z is for sale and the roadster is on the raffle trail, the 510 and 521 truck are keepers for the moment.

(background: I am a Dats-roadster guy, to whom Victor gave and gave and gave of his soul and Datsun knowledge, and we shared (and will share) many laughs, and many twisty roads (though not enough of either of those two categories)

I took his Z-car for a weekend to help get it to the MSA show, and do a few minor interior/cosmetic things, and I can tell you I was taking it easy but IT ROCKS.

He needs our prayers, thoughts and our collective strength.

(PM me and I can check on the raffle ticket specifics, I am closely in touch witht he hoster, and this is all above board, benefitting the guy we owe so much to for all his favors, generosity, sefllessness.

Are you the same Fergus that helped Mike from Livermore pick up my old blue 240Z? I was curious about what ended up happening, if so!

Sorry for the off topic reply.
