Posted April 25, 201212 yr comment_388301 I just got my hands on an old Hitachi radio that supposedly was the stock AM/FM radio in the 73-76 Z car?? It supposedly works but unfortunetly, I do not have the plug and colored wires to plug into the back of the unit and I can't seem to find any info or parts or schamatic for this model anywhere ( even online????) .I figure that somebody out there must know something bout this radio or at least enough info so that I can build my own plug and color code the 6 wires ( + the 3 wires for the antenna) HALP!!!@! April 26, 201212 yr comment_388313 Six wires? Are you including the Antenna in the mix?White and White/Black are the Speaker wires, with the WB being +Red/Blue is for the light behind the dial.Blue is 12v+, Black is Ground. The Blue typically comes with an in-line fuse holder which may just have a noise suppressor inside if it hasn't been replaced with a fuse by a PO.The Antenna gets power from the same Blue wire as the radio and it uses a SPDT Center Off Momentary switch. In one direction it powers the Antenna up and in the other down, the antenna grounds to complete the circuit. This is the original semi-automatic antenna. If your antenna has been replaced with a Fully Automatic antenna, the wiring will have been changed (presumably) and depending on how they wired it, it either functions fully automatic or has been wired to function as a semi-automatic antenna.FWIWE Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/43053-z-radio-datsun-hitachi-kms-2511z/#findComment-388313 Share on other sites

April 26, 201212 yr Author comment_388442 No,the "6 wires" do not include the 3 wires for the antenna! I apperciate you giving me the color break down of the wires,...but, thats the problem...I don't have the plug or any wires that would vbe coming out of it! April 27, 201212 yr comment_388533 That's where Vintage Connections comes in. Order the plug and the pins.I'll have to check, but if memory serves, the antenna uses a 3 connector all spade and all vertical/parallel to each other. The main radio one is the one I'll have to research or others may already have pictures.E Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/43053-z-radio-datsun-hitachi-kms-2511z/#findComment-388533 Share on other sites
April 28, 201212 yr Author comment_388576 THANKS, thats what I'm needin! Theres a "hole" in the back of the radio with 6 "male spades/prongs"and i can either find a plug in a junk yard ( PROBLEM SOLVED!!) or....Order a set of plugs and pins and build one..slight problem...I still don't know which plug/spade does what and I feel sure that if I put the power and /or ground to the wrong plug....well, ya know the rest! April 28, 201212 yr comment_388577 And now that you mention the "hole", I'm wondering if it isn't a radio for a later (closer to the 76 model) than the earlier models. I say this because the radios for my early models had a pigtail of wires coming out of the back of the radio and not an input jack. In either case, you may be spot on as far as finding the proper cord in a boneyard.E Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/43053-z-radio-datsun-hitachi-kms-2511z/#findComment-388577 Share on other sites
