Posted May 3, 201212 yr comment_388957 No rust, runs perfectly for a car this old. The catch is that the suspension has started to go bad, would that be much of an issue aside from ride harshness? May 3, 201212 yr comment_388958 I saw rust on the right qtr in front of the wheel. A change of struts will solve the suspensio issue. If it runs, it's worth it. May 3, 201212 yr Author comment_388960 When i saw rust free i mean little rust. Are KYB struts good? Those are what I have lined up for replacing those in the car. And it runs perfectly. May 3, 201212 yr comment_388961 It is full of rust. Look again. The hatch is toast, wheel wells are toast. Am betting the floors and the battery box are gone. Frame supports on the front are likely bad. Wheels (offset are wrong). Didn't see the interior. Depends on what you want. I woudln't put another nickel into it, treat it as disposable. It isn't worth more than 15. How do you know the suspension is 'starting to go bad'? Springs, struts, ? It is likely throw away money so you have to calculate how much return you are going to get. Long term, no, not worth it.my opinion, owning 7 Z's Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/43113-is-this-worth-1500/#findComment-388961 Share on other sites

What were your intentions with the car?Chase Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/43113-is-this-worth-1500/#findComment-388965 Share on other sites

May 3, 201212 yr comment_388986 I was planning on making it a daily driverBe sure you have a backup driver. Don't mean to bash your hopes or dreams but we've all been there. Visually, there is a lot wrong with the car. It may well run for years, but it is going to cost major money to make it decent. Paint with no body work is at least 3 grand. On the other hand, it may be worth the price to determine what to look for next time. Sort of like paying for college......... May 3, 201212 yr comment_388998 Agree with Idaho, with the visible rust there is lots more hidden. If you can do the body work and paint it might be worth $500-$900, but not $1500. Its gonna take you a while to make it a daily driver quickly unless you have some deep pockets. Just my opinion. May 4, 201212 yr comment_389030 $500 seams about right. The interior needs work also. I got my car for $300 knowing that it would be a project car. After spending probably $2,000 and doing all of the work myself except the front end alignment, it is now my daily driver after 3 years. Also it was more complete than that car. Keep looking you will find the right Z eventually Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/43113-is-this-worth-1500/#findComment-389030 Share on other sites
May 4, 201212 yr comment_389034 Since you're in the United States, I would take a look at this car - datsun 280z trade for 510 clean titleCheaper and looks in much better condition. Right down the road too... Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/43113-is-this-worth-1500/#findComment-389034 Share on other sites
