May 5, 201212 yr comment_389164 First, the obligatory "Hello"!!!What a beauty, you have done very well in locating this awesome car. 721 would be most proud of this worthy successor.Interesting to note your build date is two months prior to mine, yet a slightly higher VIN. We all know cars were pulled out of the line for various reasons, looks like mine is one of those situations.Enjoy the ride!!!Jim Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/43133-newest-family-member/#findComment-389164 Share on other sites
May 6, 201212 yr comment_389203 I was about to ask Frank to check the Date Of Manufacture - Looks like #15368 should be 12/70. I could understand it being built a month or two later - but very odd to have one number two months earlier than the normal sequence.#15189 is a Vintage Z with build date of 11/70... the highest VIN so far for 11/70..Nonetheless very nice looking Z!!FWIW,Carl B. May 6, 201212 yr comment_389208 Very nice. I especially like the deep dish on the wheels. What is your offset? Mine are -10 on the same style slots,7.00X14, and original from the dealer. My VIN is 15256 with a build date of 12/70. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/43133-newest-family-member/#findComment-389208 Share on other sites
May 6, 201212 yr Author comment_389211 I quoted the VIN from memory, Carl, and that device has shown to be faulty more frequently than ever. I'll double check today.I was about to ask Frank to check the Date Of Manufacture - Looks like #15368 should be 12/70. May 6, 201212 yr Author comment_389227 @ Carl, yep, I was wrong. Correct VIN now ensconced in my sig. block. @ PastorMike, I haven't had the occasion to measure the offset, but I presume it's zero. May 6, 201212 yr comment_389228 Hi Frank:HLS30 15653 was last reported as having a Date Of Manufacturer of 12/70, with Original Engine serial number L24-021132. Your signature line still shows 10/70. Does the Data Plate on the drivers door jamb now show 10/70? May 6, 201212 yr Author comment_389233 Yes, it does. I know the engine is not matching, 'cause it tossed #6 rod through the block about 6 months ago. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/43133-newest-family-member/#findComment-389233 Share on other sites
May 6, 201212 yr Author comment_389234 Well, crap. Not only is my memory going, but so is my eyesight! I just went out to photo the plate, and lo and behold it says 12/70. Another change coming to my sig block....Hi Frank:HLS30 15653 was last reported as having a Date Of Manufacturer of 12/70, with Original Engine serial number L24-021132. May 6, 201212 yr comment_389250 Well, crap. Not only is my memory going, but so is my eyesight! I know what you mean -- I've gone out to the garage to check on something, then when I got there I had forgotten what I went for in the first place - Sorry to hear about the original engine - throwing a rod is not something we hear about too often. But then, it's not like you don't already have a good replacement... Great looking Z... FWIW, Carl B. May 7, 201212 yr comment_389261 Great looking car. It still makes me a little sick when I see #721 in your signature line. I'm glad you made it out of that accident in one piece, and now you've got a great "new" z to begin a whole new story with. Have fun!
