240z OEM part numbers identification

My 72 240z is being hauled away tomorrow for media blasting, refinishing, and paint. I'm creating a spreadsheet of parts to order, most of which I plan to purchase from Nissan. The best source I've found for identifying the part numbers is CarPartsManual.com, but I'm hoping there is a site with better drawings available. The detail on some of their drawings can be a bit sketchy. An example is trying to identify all of the parts for the door strikers on the body using their drawing.

Any suggestions/recommendations?

I hope that you are planing on treating the inside of the Frame Rails, the dog legs, inside the doors etc - to kill and prevent rust. After 40 years they are all rusting from the inside out...

Thanks for the reminder, and I'll talk to the shop about that problem. I removed all of the undercoating and didn't find much rust, but there is some around the frame rails.

I treated some rust around and inside one of the frame rails about 20 years ago with a POR15 kit. I was amazed that the repair still looked pretty good.

AutoWorks in Loomis, Ca, is doing the body restoration and paint. 70% of their work is restorations, and I'm very impressed by the quality of their work. They're doing complete rust treatment and repair, and spraying the underside and wheel wells with Wurth undercoating. The car should outlive me. 8-)

I don't think Wurth makes a paintable undercoating. Most of their products that I've seen are NON-Paintable

For a restored 240Z - I'd want to use something like 3M paintable underbody coating or stone guard. Then apply the body color over that. The Z's were body color on the undercarriage from the factory - so I would want to put it back to that.

Applying a black undercoat to the underbody - can make the car much harder to resell if the need ever arises. Too many people use black undercoatings to cover up rust or bad repairs - and seeing it on a Z can turn people off to buying..

It is not uncommon to see wheel wells "blacked out"...

I didn't realize that. I bought my z used in '76 and it already had black undercoating on the underbody and wheel wells.

I'll talk to the shop about this concern. They do photographically document the full restoration process for the owner.

I spoke with the restoration shop owner today and mentioned your concerns. The SEM and Wurth undercoatings they use are paintable. He also said they spray a 3M rust inhibitor inside of the frame rails on their restorations. Thanks again for the suggestions.
