SO I been doing some experimenting with hoses trying to find a way to get the braided look on hoses not made anymore like the manifold coolant "S" hose on the 72 and a few other models... So I did this!......

I found a old hose that seemed the braid was beginning to delaminate from the rubber so i helped it out.. The pics should say all....

At the end, I just glued the ends to the new hose and it seems to be working!

What do you think?

I did similar some years back, only the braid was rotten, so I hit it with the waterblaster and blew the fabric off. The hose under looks like new.

haa Yes. STENTS. I have a couple.

The braiding was rotting off of some hoses, so I removed the remaining threads, then satin black rattle can, the cloth impressions in the hose make it appear the cloth is still there.

Faux braid... I like that!

Polecat,

That is really a creative idea I admire your work. Might work on my car at some point, I have a lot of braided hoses, I don't know if they are original or have been replaced.

Yep. And the waterblaster makes it a very simple job. The finish is the same as a new hose.
