Posted May 9, 201212 yr comment_389490 Does anyone have part numbers or a source for the rubber trim/bumpers for the exterior door handles? Mine are falling apart. May 10, 201212 yr comment_389565 Are you talking about the flat rubber that goes between the handle and door? If so, I think they are NLA, however you could make them out of a used inner tube.Bonzi Lon Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/43164-72-240z-exterior-door-handle-rubber-bits/#findComment-389565 Share on other sites
May 10, 201212 yr comment_389627 I found these on ebay the other day, but have not tried them yet.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-510-240-260-280Z-door-handle-rubber-1-pr-New-/120902246088?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c2655dec8&vxp=mtr-Mike Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/43164-72-240z-exterior-door-handle-rubber-bits/#findComment-389627 Share on other sites
May 11, 201212 yr comment_389641 I made mine from some flat rubber left over from making my fuel filler flap. Could have been a bit thicker but quite good. Here's what mine looks like now: I'd still like to know what the part number is. I do have some sheet rubber and will try making a couple. The little raised bumpers on the lower-inner corners might be tricky, though. May 11, 201212 yr comment_389714 I had a look at my (European market) fiche, but the door pull rubber is not listed separately from the door handle itself (see attachment). I also checked on my JDM fiche and the door handle rubber is not listed separately. One assumes they are integral to the door handle assembly itself. May 11, 201212 yr comment_389735 I found these on ebay the other day, but have not tried them yet.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-510-240-260-280Z-door-handle-rubber-1-pr-New-/120902246088?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c2655dec8&vxp=mtr-MikeMy first thought was to say that you could NOT get them without buying a completely new handle assembly, but looking at that link to e-Bay had me change my mind. That is an excellent re-make, it may not be "perfect" but if you look at the picture posted by ironhelix, it's definitely better than nothing.Do take note however, that it WILL require disassembly of your door handle in order to put them on. Otherwise you need to cut them and re-glue them once in place. (RC Car owners have an isocyanate glue specifically for bonding rubber, this might be a good use for it so you don't disassemble your door handles.)FWIWE Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/43164-72-240z-exterior-door-handle-rubber-bits/#findComment-389735 Share on other sites

If the rubber comes with the handle, it might be worth the $$$. The door handles are coming off anyhow for painting. I had one break about 15 years ago. They don't last forever. May 13, 201212 yr comment_389930 They look identical inside and out. When the first handle broke i bought a used OEM handle on eBay that appeared in perfect condition and it broke in exactly the same place just a few weeks later. Even side by side you would be hard pressed to find a difference between the BD and OEM handle.
