Alternate OEM 240z part sources

Unfortunately, Courtesy Nissan has listed many of the parts I need as NLA. Several websites, such as NissanPartsZone.com, g35parts.com, and a couple of others appear to have most of the parts available. An example part is the battery inspection lid, 63200-E4102. I don't want to place a large order and be disappointed.

I would appreciate any comments or recommendations.

Please keep in mind that while some sites such as NissanPartsZone & Nissanparts.cc don't list parts as NLA, that could mean that the database just hasn't been updated, yet. I have found that out with many parts that I tried to order.

Also - many of the other suppliers will simply put the part on "Back-Order" rather than cancel the order. Then you wind up waiting months to find out that it is never coming in.

We have found that Nissan Canada is a different parts distribution system - in the past they have been able to order parts from Japan -that the US Nissan Parts System would not order from Japan - even if the parts were still available in Japan.

Frankly it is amazing that any parts for a 40 Plus year old car are still avaliable.

Good luck,

Carl B.

You're probably right about the dealer databases just not being up-to-date. I suspect Courtesy's database is probably one of the most accurate ones when it come to s30's. I do have Banzai MW and Black Dragon identified for numerous parts already. Looks like I'll have to depend on them even more. Its too bad, since some of the sites like g35parts.com, an Infinity dealer, have relatively reasonable prices listed. I may place an order with them just to see what happens. My z is being media-blasted this week so most parts won't be needed for at least a month or two.

Don't give up on Courtesy unless you have talked to the guys at the parts counter. David House knows the early Z's inside and out, is very resourceful at locating stuff if it is available. If on "b/o" at the warehouse, he will likely know the reality of it coming in. Have your p/n's ready if you call, he can get thru your needs list very quickly. If no p/n's, he is still very good with the fiche images but you might have to wait a bit until he has time to work with you on the lookups. These guys really provide excellent service.

I doubt that g35parts.com has Parts Counter Personel that actually have owned, restored and driven 240Z's. Courtesy is the only place I've found that does.. David House at Courtesy is excellent and very knowledgeable - not to mention a former 240Z owner.

BTW - the Dealers depend on the Nissan Parts System for parts that are not in their inventory. So it isn't really a matter of a Dealer Data Base not being up to date.

FWIW,

Carl B.

As an alternative, I have a decent pair of rust-free inspection lids, from AZ, that I could sell you. send me a PM if you are interested.

Marty, how much do you want for them? I have a perfect pair lost somewhere in my garage, which I'll look for again in a day os two. The ones on my z now are louvered. They're in great condition but I want to go back to a more original look.

How does $25 +shipping sound?
