This is the first car I have really worked on, so I'm doing a suspension "refresh" one corner at a time on my 1975 280Z. I noticed what appeared to a dent on the driver's side real lower control arm. Now that I have the passenger side out, I see practically the exact same thing on this one. The FSM does not show it, but of I see one in the Z Therapy suspension bushing replacement DVD.

Is that supposed to be there?

It shouldn't be dented. You can use a big adjustable wrench to bend it straight. It might be easier to fix it with it bolted in the car. You might want to finish it off with a hammer and dolly.

Thats a pretty common dent for cars that have been secured onto trailers with metal hooks instead of straps. My car has them all over the rear control arms.

Thank you for the responses and photo!! I had already pounded out the driver's side when I removed the other side. I was a bit taken back to see the same thing on that one. It wouldn't be the first time I had to re-do something I had "fixed".
