Posted May 11, 201212 yr comment_389657 Hi Guys,I’m new to the forum.. I’ve been browsing through the 240k content and there is some good stuffLooking for some advice / opinions on 240k Coupes..I’m a Datsun fanatic and I’ve wanted one for a long time now… and I’ve found one..Just not sure how much money is too much..It will be around the 7k mark.. and has had all the rust cut out and replaced with new steel.Body is almost perfectly straight… will just require some final finishing on the body and then some paint. Its got the standard 2.4ltr engine with matching numbers & an auto trans.. apparently running but surely needing an overhaul.Interior is all there.. trims are good, seats need retrimming, dash pad cracked. My plan is to make it look like a GTR.. with the guards, grill, mirrors, wantanabe’s, triple webers etc…Is it too much for a car that still needs this much work? May 11, 201212 yr comment_389664 We'd need to see some pictures I reckon. It sounds pretty good to me but it all depends on the quality of the body work and how hard they've gone with the work. Bodywork on a car like this could cost up to 10k or so depending on the finish you're after. If the work is good quality they it sounds good to me, you're saving yourself a considerable amount of time. It also depends on the interior etc, I would hope that it's complete and in pretty good condition. Chrome work is another thing to look at, particularly the eyebrows and windscreen trims. They are expensive and usually have to come out of Japan. These cars are getting harder to find all the time but there are still some gems out there, it just takes time! If you can get some pics it would be great. May 11, 201212 yr Author comment_389668 Ok cool i'll get some pics next time i'm looking at it.Interior is complete.. but has been sitting around for about 5 years.. the dash pad is cracked.Seats could benefit from a retrim and some new carpets..All the chrome trim is straight.. but just needing some polish.Bars are straight, rear garninsh and front grill are in good nick.I want to convert it to manual.. i've got a good 5 speed box in my shed from an L28.. so would just need the pedal box.. cylinders etc... Will the centre console be structurally different? will i need to source a manual centre console for the conversion? May 11, 201212 yr comment_389675 Hi 24ozed, Welcome to the club. As Adzmax said, buying a car with the majority of the bodywork done will save you a big headache, just make sure that it is done properly. In regards to the centre console, the Auto and Manual should be the same ( I think ), just collecting all the manual conversion stuff takes time, I would know as I have just done the same. Took me a while to get the pedal kit, but a fellow member helped me out, most of the other stuff is from either Ebay or Yahoo Japan. Good Luck, and lets see some pics. May 11, 201212 yr Author comment_389679 Hi, thanks guys! Very helpful.I should be able to get a pedal box etc no probs. I'm pretty keen to get it.. So the pics I post up are likely to be of it being loaded onto a trailer..It's not an ideal time for me as I've got a 240z project car right now too.I'll be pretty happy to have the pair.. May 12, 201212 yr comment_389828 I spent a great deal getting my cars body work done, has the car been built to fit Flares? This is not a small job.Only problem with these cars is if you wait, you may not find another one to build later.Good luck Brad Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/43177-240k-c110-coupe-value-looking-to-buy/#findComment-389828 Share on other sites
May 12, 201212 yr Author comment_389832 My advise for what it's worth.---Finish the 240 before getting involved in another project.Yeah this is the smart decision.. I'm just not sure if I can let it go. I fear if I miss this one then another one may not come up for some time . I know the work involved in fitting them to the 240z.. I assumed it would be similar?I've got a bit to think about.. There is no doubt this will sit in the shed until the z is finished.. Which I'm hoping by the end of the year .. (but I said that last year too !)
