Posted May 15, 201212 yr comment_390078 i am begining the process of replace my R180 w/a R200. I was able to get all the piece parts to start the process however my rear sway bar is aftermarket and it bolts to the plates that come down to secure the rear part of te A-Arm. Its a ST bar i bought a while back. With the R200 being a whole bigger it seems that the 280 parts wont allow the bar to bolted to its current location. i'd hate to have to buy a rear bar that bolts to the chassis directly since this one is clean. Has anybody ever had this issue when doing a R200 swap? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/43219-rear-sway-bar-question/ Share on other sites
May 15, 201212 yr comment_390089 I have the BRE Rear Bar on one of my 72 240Z's - sounds like it mounts the same way as the ST Bar. Swapping in the R200 was not an issue.FWIW,Carl B. May 15, 201212 yr comment_390128 Great news, on an other rear sway bar questions, is it possible to install a rear sway bar on a 71, which had no rear bar to begin with? I have been thinking of adding one for years, and would be a good addition to my tokiko springs and struts/ Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/43219-rear-sway-bar-question/#findComment-390128 Share on other sites
May 15, 201212 yr comment_390131 The ST rear bar comes with a set of modified carrier legs that allow you to mount the bar on the legs and then on the RCAs themselves. This bar has the opening facing the front of the car as opposed to the stock rear bars that came on later Zs where the opening faces the rear of the car and the mounts are located on the undercarriage behind the seats. You can use a stock bar in an early Z by just drilling holes in the floor. The ST bar is a cleaner solution. Without having to buy the whole sway bar kit?TIA,Marty Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/43219-rear-sway-bar-question/#findComment-390134 Share on other sites
May 15, 201212 yr comment_390137 No. You can always weld a tab on the side of the existing transverse link brace and drill the appropriate holes. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/43219-rear-sway-bar-question/#findComment-390137 Share on other sites
