Posted May 24, 201212 yr comment_391050 Bought it plus the $$$ boltDoes not fit. I searched Zcar.com and found one post where a guy had to get it machined to fit.I am thinking of boiling it in a bag on a Coleman stove where the car is.All suggestions welcome. May 24, 201212 yr comment_391053 Phillip.....I finally gave up. I bought two performance dampers and they were so tight I was afraid to torque 'em on. I had them machined and still felt uncomfortable. If you use the Nismo performance bolt, don't use it on a stock damper. The drop down on the washer bottoms out on the end of the crank, preventing everything from pulling up tight up front. Been there....done that! Regards. May 25, 201212 yr comment_391066 Yes, I bought 2 premium dampers from MSA.....I ended up throwing them away.....wasn't about to sell my problem to someone else. Don't use those expensive bolts on your stock damper unless you machine that drop down off the washer. May 25, 201212 yr comment_391092 Problem with that, is if the woodruff key isn't perfectly aligned, you'll drive that right through your oil slinger! :stupid: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/43326-power-force-damper/#findComment-391092 Share on other sites
May 25, 201212 yr Author comment_391095 I have 3 cranks: L24, L28, and LD28 Neither of the 2 MSA untis fit. My stocks damper fits all 3.On the MSA unit, even the woodruff key does not fit in width or depth. I wasted $350 on these POS. I just checked, and the MSA website now says to buy the part then take to a machine shop to make it fit. BS!!! . May 25, 201212 yr comment_391099 Ditto that.....right down the flusher with two new dampers and two worthless bolts. I feel better that I'm not alone....."Another please bartender"! May 25, 201212 yr comment_391101 The one I bought was too tight but if you take your time with a round rat tail it will fit. This is my last posting today as I have some buyers coming out to buy my 73 Saterday. Thanks all for the 6 or 7 yrs. May 25, 201212 yr comment_391103 Do any of you want to sell one? I'd like to try to make it fit my new race engine. If I can't get it to fit I'll use it as a cool door stop. May 25, 201212 yr comment_391105 Blue, I feel you. When working with Eiji at Datsun Spirit, he recommended I use the stock one or he could find another one. But he had heard of issues with the MSA ones. I am putting an OEM damper on my new L28. I hope you get this figured out. Good LUCK!
