Should I install headlight covers?

I purchased headlight covers but after I recieved them, I realized I would have to drill holes in the headlight boxes to hold them down. It says you can install them with double sided tape but I have a 400hp engine in the car and I take it to the track. I am worried that these things will end up causing me trouble down the road and then I will have to remove them and will have screw holes from the lens. I am worried dirt etc will get inside the lens over time, etc.

If anyone has had these on their car, I would appreciate any feedback.

Thanks

I have them on my Z, the ad a sexy flair to the car lines, yes holes are the ideal install, the plexi/glass is made to tolerate moderate weather conditions, they do leak water and dust gets it, so you remove the box and clean them as needed ;) Welcome to Z Land ,,,, nice ride ,love the color

It looks like I used double-sided tape to attach mine. They've been on the car for about 8 years. I did a lot of sanding to get them to fit tightly against body. They seal well and are almost water tight. Dust isn't an issue.

Use 3M double sided moulding tape. Yes to dust and H2O getting in, but really not an issue. I do not believe that they would fly off of your Z, it is not aircraft carrier thrust:)...but who cares...with 400hp, you should be worried about other stuff flying off.LOL

I have been told that when you autocross anything that CAN come off the car, MUST be removed before you race to protect the corner workers.

I guess the definition of can come off would not apply to anything held in place with bolts. Whether or not double faced tape would meet the requirements may be a local interpretation.

(one of the hard core autocrossers in the local club leaves the center caps for his wheels parked in the garage for that very reason.)
