Posted May 26, 201212 yr comment_391180 Folks, I would like your suggestions on an ignition coil. I have 78 280Z that is running fine, but am considering replacing the coil due to the fact that I'm sure the coil is the original one and is showing some rust spots. Would you suggest replacing with an OEM coil or one of the 'hotter' coils? Thoughts?I appreciate any comments.Bob Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/43340-coil/ Share on other sites
May 26, 201212 yr comment_391188 I'd go with a hotter coil. If you do that you can probably eliminate the ballast resistor too.Chuck Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/43340-coil/#findComment-391188 Share on other sites

June 5, 201212 yr comment_392159 Hey guys,This mention of replacing the coil, brings to mind the question of, whether or not, the Zs a have an inline resistor wire in the ignition or an external like the old Chrysler products used to use. The one I'm working on is a 73.Thanks! Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/43340-coil/#findComment-392159 Share on other sites
