I know there are alot of members here from Australia. I saw on the news that parts of Australia are being hit with huge wildfires.

I havent seen what parts are getting it. But just wanted too say please stay safe and hope this is not hitting on any of our members homes.

Last I heard, were that the fires were very close to Canberra.

Hope everyone is okey and that the fires are now under control.

Remeber, you can rebuild your home so don't risk your life tring to protect it.

THe fires around Canberra truly are disasterous. No one on this board that I know of comes from Canberra though... so I dont think anyone HERE is in danger.

The fires are located at the outskirts of Canberra, the National Capital.

As of tonight's news, over 400 that's FOUR HUNDRED homes have been lost so far, four people dead, it's a miracle there isn't more.

Fires were started by lightning strikes and fanned by strong winds that carried embers for kilometres.

Fires are also burning in the Snowy Mountains, in both New South Wales and Victoria.

One thing I meant to mention is that fire crews from New South Wales and, I think, 20 fire trucks and crews from Queensland are rushing to Canberra to help out.

Every single one of those fire fighters are bloody heros in my book.

I live about half way between Sydney's CBD and Canberra and the air here has been very smokey for some time. The meteorologists say it is blowing up from Canberra - they are big fires for sure. Apparently, additional areas of the ACT (Australian Capital Territory) are on high alert today.
