October 22, 201311 yr comment_434248 Do you already have the 72 head? Is it a late or early head? You don't need the "big Block" , you need the head work. There is a guy on hybridz selling a e31 head ready to bolt on!!Spend your money on the head first, then the trans and gearing will liven things too. Good ignition and tune tune tune. Like said above, triples will help a lot:) Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/43395-260z-performance-improvements/?&page=2#findComment-434248 Share on other sites
October 22, 201311 yr comment_434256 I need to find a early 72 head, then look about a stage II cam. My SU's have app. 65,000 miles on them, but the Z runs great. Back in the late 70's I drove a 260 with triples, stage II cam (crane),header, and head with big valves. This was a totally different car. October 23, 201311 yr comment_434264 1. Replace the timing chain.2. Replace the 74 e-88 head with a 72 E-88.3. Rebuild SU carbs or send them to Z therapy.4 Purchase a stage II cam.5 Purchase a header and 2.5" exhaust.6 Add 5 speed trans and 3.9 diff.==============================have items 3,4,5, & 6..if I was to do it again my only change may be to keep the orig manifold. ...these Cars are loud with manifolds & 2.5" exhausts. You may also want to upgrade the ignition. The Tranny & Diff upgrade make a real difference...
