Is there an E30 head?

Lets post the information here on a "without prejudice" basis. A Z is a Z whether sold in America, Europe, U.K., Japan, Canada, Australia, N.Z. South Africa...(more??)...

To me, the regional variations to allow market penetration is all part of the rich pattern of our interest. Things like Home Market 2 litre engines, high performance variants, LHD, Emission control, local assembly, racing history, etc.. it is all a part of the story.

To focus on one aspect (eg zhome's mainly US market cars) is to become a specialist rather than a generalist. Specialists must be even more careful to get their facts right. A generalist (eg this site - I hope) can welcome and include all information recognising that it is all equally valid in the big picture.

Yes, I too would love to learn more about the non-USA Z cars from a non-USA perspective!

I enjoy all the different personalities on this and other sites. Hey, if we were all the same with the same opinion life would be boring! And everyone would be driving Z's!!! Maybe that would be too much of a good thing! Nah! :)

I guess that would be up to Mike G to make the space/forums available.

Any progress on the register?

It would kinda fit under the Tech Documents, open, or misc. forums. Maybe, he could ad a historical reference forum for these topics?

And maybe a new discussion should be started since this is drifting away from the E-30 topic.

In Australia the E30/L24 combination is quite common in earlier 240Z cars. It was common practice in the 70's and 80's to instal either the E30 or E31 depending what was available to overcome cracked heads corrosion and other issues with heads. the E30 off an L24 is very efficient and flows well with the right combination of hardware. without the casting mark most drivers would not pick the E30 from the E31. I have a well matched L24/E30 with pre-polution hardware in my 12/71 auto HS30 sport. This particular engine hates Australia's idea of low octane 0 lead fuel but with 100LL is fine.

for my 2c E30 is a great head, has anyone got a brand new one on the shelf.

cheers

SJCURTIS what do you think of the early E88 heads?

I have pinging problems with my 10:1 compression ratio. It has the F54 Block and Electronic ignition I'm told the N47 Needles will help to correct this problem as it makes the compression chamber richer at higher revs.

PS: I've been looking for a E31 engine head I'll be looking for a E30 from now on.

I have a spare P90 also :devious:

Gavin, If you have a P90 Head go with it. It may take a bit of setting up but there are people who have experience with them, they flow fantastic and will exceed your expectation. The E88 is good but would require a fair amount of work to match the P90, as for fuel there is no one fix but enriching the running mixture may help. Changing the law on what passes as fuel in Australia will fix the problem.

good luck

I thought i'd revive this old post..

So... the E30 head came out on the early skylines/240ks and also on the 2l jap motors..

the early ones (240k/skyline/ 2.4l) where setup for a single carby and the 2l jap motor was setup up for fuel injection and has its inlet ports drilled for it.

Did they both have the same size valves?(the injection head and non-injection)..did they both have the same size combustion chambers? Does anyone know wot size they are, for compression calcs?

My 260z has a e30 head on it with injection holes drilled into the ports and was wanting to know if it was a good head.. and what compression ratio ive got(i havnt done compression test yet)

thanks
