This morning I had a banner that indicated that I was ...banned from the site/club,it indicated no reason for suspension and that it will never be lifted....early this week I got an email note asking for my "membership fee'' I have been donating money to the site as a voluntary action, SO IF I DON'T SEND MONEY I HAVE NO PLACE HERE........ I was able to get access and post today to the site after a ten $ paypal "donation''......PLEASE CLARIFY THIS.....as of this date I have donated 70/seventy $ and think that it is more than a fair donation for a ''member'' with a join date from Dec 2011,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,hey if you don't like my pristine/trophy winner 1972 240Z with a professional installed LS1 plus over 55,000.00 US $ spent on it's built then say so.

I like your Silver V8 - but personally I would not have traded your Z and 510 for it:finger: The Z maybe - but not the Z AND Brocks 510!LOL But that's just me...

I really don't think your choice of cars has anything to do with the situation you describe...

FWIW,

Carl B.

Everyone says they wouldn't have traded but they havn't had the pleasure of mashing the pedal on that silver car That thing will snap your neck and is SMOOOOOOOTTTHHH. Ground control coil overs with ARI top hats and tokiko adjustables. It rides nice. rev first, slam second and the car doesn't even chirp a gear it just STICKS. Awesome ride. I've got 2 stock Z's, I wish mine rode this good. Now all you have to do is make it stop Lee. Good to see you the other day. We have to get together when i'm not so busy and take a cruise. I'm about to dismantle Z number 2, i'm still working on the motor, cleaning it up i've got to bead blast the oil pan and replace a bunch of vacuum lines and gaskets. I'd like a suspension set up like whats on that silver car. The arizona Z car rear crossmember and Q45 diff definetly hook well

Sounds very strange to me from what you have described and I can understand your reaction.

As far as I know people are invited to contribute but there has never been a compulsion to do so. From what I think I have seen, people tend to donate what they feel they can afford and for what individuals recognise as the value the site provides to them. There are plenty of non donating members and there has never, to my knowledge, been any grief about it. Some people donate voluntary services (e.g. moderators) and others offer truly exceptional knowledge, enthusiasm, and a quality of contribution to the threads that I am most appreciative of.

I have never heard of any pay for use system even being considered.

The situation you describe is not anything that I have heard of in my time on this forum. The only people I have seen banned from the site are those that abused others, or acted dishonestly or did something that was clearly reprehensible. I have never heard of people being marginalised for their taste in cars - in fact I think this forum, while generally conservative, is quite tolerant of what is done by owners with their cars so long as a similar degree of tolerance is shown to the Forum by those owners.

Give it a bit of time and I am sure that others will chime in here, but I am certain that the true picture will emerge in a very short time and that what you have described is not something that is supported by the Forum.

Regards

Dave

I have no idea what's happened here, but it sure does't seem normal to me.

I've moved this thread into the Website Bugs forum, as Mike (site owner) is more likely to see it here than in the original location. I will do some digging as well, but the donation mechanism is pretty much Mike's baby.

OJ, This site is not a pay site, nor has it been hacked. I haven't been working on it lately, so I know it wasn't something I've done. Since you are the only person complaining about this issue, I assume it was something to do with your client computer.

Both your Z and your donations have been much appreciated! FYI, we will never force people to pay to use this site.

Sorry, Mike, but I don't buy it. I can not envision anything in the limited cookies that vBulletin puts on a client computer that could cause this. I'm wondering about two things - recurrance settings for donations, and odd permissions for the custom "Supporting members" group.

It's important to note that this site does take money to operate. I've never seen any pressure to contribute.....in fact you almost have to search to find out how to contribute. I understand that a minimum of $400.00 a month is required. We all get great value from a well thought out and well run site. We should all be aware that contributions, no matter what amount are appreciated by those who spend time, effort and money to make our site successful. Great job Mike.

Mike and Arne ,,do you want me to send a copy of the E-mail that demanded for money or my access to the site will stop,,,,,,I did respond to such E-mail , it came from the webmaster and ID as the real thing.
