Posted June 20, 201212 yr comment_393610 Has anyone seen a hose that looks like this? Nothing really holding it together I could just pull it apart with two fingers. Another P.O.'s hack? and why have I missed this for so long. Could this be giving me a massive vacuum leak? Oil leak? June 20, 201212 yr comment_393611 Look like a P.O.'s hack/repair. The PCV hose on my 78 was one piece. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/43587-pcv-valve-hose/#findComment-393611 Share on other sites
June 21, 201212 yr comment_393614 For 240z and 260z, the hose is ~ $15 for 280z ~$25.You can clamp the hose on that fixture and you are good to go in the interim. I order a new hose before posting. but what do I do for now?I wrapped the old hose in e- tape just as an experiment. And at least my car will stay running. Now I know why there is a lower heat shield (not currently installed but its going back on tonight). I don't trust the e tape fix at all but I need to do something till the new one arrives. Perhaps It's Moto Guzzie time for a while. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/43587-pcv-valve-hose/#findComment-393618 Share on other sites

June 21, 201212 yr Author comment_393632 15-6214 $25.72 Motorsport Auto. Have one on my 77.As stated above it has been ordered (from MSA). It is amazing how sensitive the 280z's EFI system is to vacuum leaks. June 21, 201212 yr comment_393679 I have never liked the way that hose was designed. Had a 77 that would melt them on a monthly basis. Use the heat shields. I have modified my to use steel braided hose.Good luck Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/43587-pcv-valve-hose/#findComment-393679 Share on other sites
June 21, 201212 yr comment_393682 I'd wrap it with some good duct tape and clamp the ends for now.Chuck Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/43587-pcv-valve-hose/#findComment-393682 Share on other sites

June 22, 201212 yr comment_393714 pick up my motorcycle till the hose arrives in the mail.Aren't you worried that your arms will get tired if you try to lift it that long? June 22, 201212 yr Author comment_393716 Well it's just a motorcycle and I think MSA is located here on the west coast. So I only have to lift it till Monday, worst case scenario.I may be skinny but I am strong.
