Poly trans mount bushing fitment issue

Recommended Posts

Bought a set of urethane bushings from prothane for my 72 240 manual. They are about an 1/8 inch in diameter to small. Bought a set from Energy Suspension. They too are an 1/8 too small. Pulled a different mount from a parts car. Same thing. All of the other bushings for the car were very tight fit (Energy Suspension kit). Am concerned these are going to allow more movement than necessary. Anyone have similiar issues or perhaps a remedy?

Thanks,

Leonard

No mystery here. You have to remove the thin inner steel liner tube that was part of the stock rubber bushing before you get the correct "remaining" ID. Hack saw two slots in it, collapse it inward.

Same method needed on the rear outer control arm bushings when you do them too.

I believe that he's saying that his bushings are too small, not too big. Removing the liner would make it worse. Maybe the bushings are designed like the mustache bar bushings and need a "liner" and IK's are gone.

Whoa! A lesson in reading without assumptions. This topic has been covered before so naturally I assumed.... Bad zKars.....

Too small? Did you take the sleeves out and these bushings are designed for sleeves in? Wrong bushing? Now I'm confused..
