Odd and tempting situation

I recently got a new to me 72 Cali Z, it is super clean with very nice upgrades beside its LS1 conversion, I have crazy money in it . So here is my odd situation, at a recent coffee/meet I met a fellow Z nut like my self and he made me a proposal , he wants my super clean euro tail lights, my super nice JDM naked bumpers , my leather Recaro seats and front clear lens turn signals. He will give me his red tail lights in nice shape, the bumpers also in very condition with newly rubber inserts , his factory seats in decent order with good firm foam and the amber front signals. He offer me 2,250.00 cash and help in the swap. This is tempting :ermm: Your input will be welcome.

I suspect there were many things about your new car that attracted you to it, beyond the LS1 conversion. Those would probably include the unique appearance items you identify. Ask yourself if you will still be as satisfied with your car if it substantially reverts to a stock appearance. We already know it is not about the money - so I think this is a question only you can answer.

Jim, thanks for the response, yes it is my call to this odd offer but there are a few things that I will like to do to Z-VETTE, she has the factory red panels, pillars, doors, sun visors, rear cabin moldings, head liner all are well preserved. She has A/C,and the PO replaced the diamond vinyl with high grade black carpet , the black leather Reacaro's are very nice and supportive but I will like to add red cloth Recaro type seats, something about silver and red that turns me on and it will not get too hot or cold as leather. The euro tail lights are very rare but only Z addicts will notice them . The bumpers are very nice, then again only for hard core Z nuts, the clear front lens are on Ebay for two bills . So are the seats , bumpers and euro lights worth two G's or more, yes-no-maybe . The other items I will be adding are tint windows, power windows, locks, antenna and an alarm system.I consider my self as a nostalgic/classic car guy not a true/purist.

Lee, thanks for the additional comments - they help to clarify things. I really like your silver/red theme, red seats will make a significant impact. The means the "deal" stock seats aren't intended for the car anyway. Excellent rationale on the bumpers and lights and it suggests these items are not all that important to your vision for the overall results (letting us into your head a bit more). Since the items are important to someone else, you get to free up a bit of liquidity for your own personalizations. I'm in your camp on nostalgic/classic - keep working to make it YOUR car; my few resto mods also took me away from purist.

A few more things to add If I do this deal, make the tail lights all red by covering the reverse light, will be taken off the bumper over riders, will add arm rest to each door from an early Miata, sell the Momo leather steering wheel and shift knob and replace with a Nardi wood wheel and wood shift knob ;)

I like to call youre car a 240 Zett. But it's youre car not mine.

Zett sounds good but she is a Z car with the guts from a Corvette, maybe'' J-TINVETTE '' ;)

Well I learn today the Z that was waiting for my goodies was hit hard by a tree during the past storm, so no trade will take place. I was not 100% sold on this deal, the rear euro lights are rare and the JDM chrome bumpers both command a nice price . The red seats mod will be on my future list ;)
