Looks like you got your work cut out for you Alex. Get it running, fix the floor pans and battery box and assess your budget from there. All the parts you need can be sourced from MSA, Ebay, Craigslist, the Classified page of this board and from Classic Datsun.

I repaired a 71 a couple of years ago that had sat around for 18 years. These engines are tuff! I bet you can get it to come back to life with less effort than you think. Squirt some oil in the cylinders and turn it over by hand with the plugs out--have you done that yet??

Another thing that will be helpful--please try and post here using proper grammar and punctuation. You will be better recieved by the members if we don't have to try and decipher your posts. We aren't the grammar police, but you will get more cooperation if we completely understand what your telling us.

Example:rebuild? i have all the equipment to do so. and mechanically? im not so sure yet havent look much into it. I have no idea what you just said!

.

yeah youre right, guess im just a little anxious, it is probably best for me to stick with the stock engine. but its been sitting for 14 years... sooo im not sure if sparks and gas are going to help much. rebuild? i have all the equipment to do so. and mechanically? im not so sure yet havent look much into it. but exterior wise im going to add a front air dam, and a little wing on back.. nothing very gaudy, dont want it looking like a ricer. @ sparegolfer- any suggestions?

Alex, Welcome, I'm a little late to the party but the members here are a great source of info and parts, as you are finding out. Parts can still be had, Motor Sport Auto in CA is a good place, Black Dragon Automotive, Z car source of Arizona are some good ones. I just ordered some door parts from Courtesy Nissan in TX, they seem very helpful. I have a 73 and have been playing with it for a few years. I was able to find a refurbished gas tank from a member here, you probably can do the same, just have to be diligent in looking and asking. I agree with everyone get the body in order, fix the rust properly or it will return.

POR-15 is our friend. You can go thru the engine pretty easy and not to expensive so you can drive it. I'd get it looking like you want with the stock engine/drivetrain and then look at modifying. As always paint and body work will cost more than you budget for, so I'd focus there first.

Good luck with your project, they are a fun car to drive and modify.

Alex, you've got your work cut out for you, but you did ask way back at the beginning "... would there be anywhere that sells nut/bolts/washer kits for specific locations on the car?" Here's a link to a place where I've purchased nuts and bolts. They sell sets for different parts of the Z:

Good Luck!
