240crazee Posted July 18, 2012 Author Share #13 Posted July 18, 2012 Okay one other thing too that you guys could probably help with.. How would I go about registering this car? Are there any specific things I need to say to get tags or will they not have an issue with it being rhd since it's over 25 years old?
Montezuma Posted July 18, 2012 Share #14 Posted July 18, 2012 Check with the DMV, if everything is in order it should be easy if it was once registered in Cali.
LeonV Posted July 18, 2012 Share #15 Posted July 18, 2012 It's easy if it already has a US title. If not, it will be a little tougher. Did you import the car yourself or buy it from a US owner?
spitz17 Posted July 18, 2012 Share #16 Posted July 18, 2012 It was will not be tough provided that it already has a title. I simply took my non-op title to AAA and had it registered. No hassles at all. The title doesn't even state that it is RHD, so you'll have no problems.
240crazee Posted July 19, 2012 Author Share #17 Posted July 19, 2012 The guy didn't really have any paperwork on it so I will have to check with dmv I guess to see what my options are.
spitz17 Posted July 19, 2012 Share #18 Posted July 19, 2012 Do you have a bill of sale? You'll have to take a copy of the bill of sale to the DMV. They will most likely perform an inspection and, if all passes, issue you a title.I just purchased a 240Z race car and it was the same situation. I'll shoot you my phone number through e-mail, feel free to ring me if you run into any issues.
Perfect240Z Posted September 7, 2012 Share #19 Posted September 7, 2012 I had to do that with my Z. Not only was it from another state, but the last person to fill out the registration paper work wrote 1978 instead of 1970. So I had to have the local PD do a vin check and make sure its on three spots on the car(Dash, engine bay, and door jam).
