If the cam tower is cracked under the bolt, it looks like the one to the right is also cracked too. I can't discern so please explain problem in more detail so that we can advise.

So if the bolt is broken at the base wouldn't that allow it to turn or twist slightly? And wouldn't that bind the cam? Or wear out the bearing? I'm just guessing as usual.

I would fix it but you need to make sure no burrs would go into your engine during the operation.

The load to push the valves down are counteracted by the towers so there're definitely loads going thru those parts.

ok getting quotes now i would have tools to do this but the army really frown on tools in the barraks so its hard to work on your own stuff here.

Navy Veteran here; we always had Auto Hobby Shop or as the Marines and Air Force call them Auto Skills Centers on the bases where I was assigned. You can go there and rent a booth to work on your car. The Hobby Shop loans you all the tools you need. My buddy and I are doing a Resto-Mod to a 71Z at the Auto Skills Center on the Marine Recruit Depot here in San Diego. Does your Army Post have a Hobby Shop/Auto Skills Center?

Yea but they charge storage and just one for the whole post in on ft hood so its a real chore to get a booth and the things I need are broken till God knows when. If I could get in I would have.
