Do Speed Bleeders work?

I have them on my motorcycle. Yes they work, but they seem a touch fragile and fussy. They depend on thread sealant to keep things sealed while the bleeder is open. You definitely don't want to open them very much during the bleeding process, maybe a quarter turn or so. If you bleed your brakes frequently, and find it inconvenient to grab a helper, they will do the job.

I put them on my car when my wife decided that she didn't want to be a brake pedal pusher any more. They work great. You have to get two different sizes for fronts and rears. Get the one for the clutch, too. Get the catch bag. It makes the job easier. Be sure to check the levels in the reserviors frequently or you will have to start over (ask me how I know). I didn't even get in the car...I used a stick to push the pedal with.

Cheers, Mike

I have them on the back wheel cylinders on my 76 (with 78 struts and cylinders) and they work great, especially if you want to flush a lot of fluid through the lines (like, for example, if the car has been sitting for years before you got it). The final bleed seemed fine, the pedal is high and firm.

I had them on my 240sx's, and they worked great for a long time, then the one started sticking open for me. When I do a brake job now, when I'm done I just put a drop of oil in them, and it seems to keep them working good.
